The Client

Cló Iar-Chonnachta (CIC) was founded in 1985, and since then has published over 300 books and 150 music albums. CIC is the largest private Irish language publishing company in Ireland.

The Goal

To provide a fresh design which would take into account today’s best practices while at the same time offering a streamlined checkout process for CIC’s customers. From an administration point of view it was important that the CIC team be able to manage product information in real time as well as process customer orders in an efficient manner. As a publisher of Irish music and books it was imperative that the website be offered to visitors in both Irish and English languages.

The Solution

After a research period which involved both KCO and CIC reviewing best eCommerce practices both in Ireland and around the world we drew up a list of desired features for the home page; rooting out the unnecessary and placing the focus firmly on the products. From there we developed prototypes of the home page and the shopping process until all aspects had been finalised.

Our design team then turned these static wireframes into browser compliant HTML / CSS before our developers provided the appropriate programming and database development to complete the websites journey from sketch to feature packed, multilingual, eCommerce solution.

The CIC team are able to fully manage their product catalogue and customer orders via a secure content management section.

The Result

The new CIC.ie website was launched in November 2010 and provided a timely sales boost for the festive season.
